Yes, we're on IRC too. Take a trip to #sm64 on Freenode (irc.freenode.net).
We don't like spam, so behave in there. The channel's language is English; foreign languages, chtrm lngune, 1337 5|>34|< and noob language are not allowed. Have fun! smile

[Thanks to RoadOfDarkness for writing this post/guide]

Ok, after seeing a post saying they're unsure of how to get on IRC. I've decided to make a quick guide showing you how.

First of all, you need an IRC client, the best one for Windows is mIRC, with BitchX being best for Linux users. Macs however, can use ChatZilla, which is an IRC add-on for FireFox.

You can download them here:
mIRC: http://www.mirc.com/get.html
BitchX: http://www.bitchx.com/download.php
ChatZilla: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16

I'm going to be using mIRC for my guide, as it's the client I use most.

Firstly, download and install your client, once this is done, run it. Note, mIRC says it is only a 30 day trial, after this though, you simply have to wait a few seconds for the 'Continue' button to become alive again.

Once you've started your program up, you should get a list of options.

Once the details have been filled in, click on the 'servers' tabs, and scroll down until you see Freenode. Then click OK.

Next, click the connect button is the top left hand corner. Looks like a lightning bolt.

Ignore all the writing that comes up, it's just MOTD's and scanning for harmful proxies.

Finally, once connected, type in the chat window, /join #sm64

Congratulations, you've got IRC up and running.  tongue

I recommend enabling highlight and timestamps in mIRC. To enable highlight, press alt + B, click the "Highlight" tab, click "Add", type in $me, and check "Flash message". To enable timestamps, press alt + O, navigate to IRC > Messages, and check the "Timestamp events" box. ~ Johannes

Install XChat with your package manager. Start it, and in the server list, find FreeNode, edit, check "auto connect on startup", add #sm64 to "favorite channels", and you're good to go.
