Re: Fastest Star Times - post your records here

2) the other version resets when entering a sublevel, rendering the code useless for those stars
3) N64, PJ64 and the Wii version have many many differences in lag
4) not everyone has a gameshark (N64) or is willing to install mods to use the code (VC)
5) finding Mario's first walking frame and going back 39 frames is not accurate, and starting timing on first non-white isn't accurate either since videos are recorded vastly differently so what frame appears to be the first non-white differsConclusion: Including decimals is only reasonable when all runs are timed from the m64 using Mupen64 (iow. TAS)
1) That's why I said everyone should use the timer code for consistency (of course I mean the same code).
2) Look at #1
3) The timing would still be the same, no matter what version you are playing on, again, if the timer was mandatory (I observed one of Erivan's DDD Speedruns, and I noticed that the timer corresponded to the lag.
4) If you own the N64 game, or the Wii Version (and don't feel like getting a Gameshark/getting Homebrew), it is legal to own the ROM file and PJ64. That's why I said everyone can use the code, regardless of their "reasons" why they can't.
5) I really don't understand what you mean by that. Every star I TAS, I start at the star select frame, and choose the star on the first frame possible. The first non-white frame is 20 and on most courses, Mario's first visual running frame is, frame 59. Since finding the first walking frame is easier then finding the first non-white frame, all it would take is:
First walking frame - 39 = First non-white frame. Conclusion: This is completely possible.
1) Not everyone can.
2) #1 implies an answer at best, and i guarantee a fair chunk of people won't understand that.
3) Not everyone can use the timer.
4) And how many people have EXACTLY the same skill level on emulator as console?
5) What you say assumes everyone uses the timer to eliminate discrepancies with lag, in which case it's pointless anyways because the timer starts on that frame anyways.
Conclusion: You're being a dick and assuming EVERYONE is willing and able to play on pj64.
