Yeah the videois only 30 seconds so it wouldn't take to long to do it yourself. It take a whole lot more time for someone else to encode it then upload it.Just for you to download it (which would take the same amount of time as encoding it yourself) then you upload it to youtube.

I have vista and it won't show anything when I record it.
Also, Nahoc why is the no shawdow under Mario?

Look at some of my other videos from Mario 64 they have a shadow under Mario. Never heard of Aero.

1) Disable Aero in display settings (or even better, upgrade your OS to XP (Yes, the use of "upgrade" is intentional))
2) Your video card has issues with the graphics plugin you use in Mupen.

Maybe Johannes will be able to help me.
When I capture with Mupen's built-in AVI I have the same "black screen" problem. I tried to work with the "compatibility" tab of Mupen but nothing's work. If you guys don't have any solution, I'll just capture my videos with Fraps, but I'd still like to capture with Mupen.  neutral

*edit* : I run Windows 7 btw.

How does JohannesSM64 Get beautiful encoding in most of his videos. I use the ffdshow video codec and the CCCP encode pack and mencoder. What did i do wrong??

Try with those setting (http://www.mediafire.com/?my5tmzicmzu)
Just double click on it and re-encode with ffdshow.

Also, try to encode it with the Direct64 plugin with a bigger resolution.
That is what I use, they look quite good wink
But it kinda worthless to have a crazy quality IMO...

Just record at 640x480 or higher with QP18 x264 or max quality xvid (or anything similar) and follow my tutorial.

Ok anybody who has sony vegas one to suggest a codec to use or tell me if there is a way to add xvid. I just ran something threw sony vegas and it went from 16 mega bites to 7 gigs. So yeah any suggested codecs in sony vegas?

I've wanted to ask this to Johannes for awhile. Is there any way to improve this quality (at 1080p; not sure if that has any significance, but might as well say), or is it basically as good as it can be?

No, there is no black magic, just upload a high quality video. Though, sometimes a video's "normal quality" (non-HD/HQ) will turn out horrible, sometimes good. There doesn't seem to be a pattern.. YouTube just sucks. But the HD seems rather consistent, and any high quality video you upload will look good.

Since people keep asking me about what I use to encode, I decided to make a full Mupen64 encoding tutorial, kind of like Nahoc's but I used my methods (and English, lol). I didn't use my microphone, but text instead. Hopefully it will help some people.

I just got ffdshow and it's hard to understand the things.
I want to make 800x600 videos with rice video. What's the best possible or good there? WMV 9? lol
I want to record it fast, but get good quality.
Also, i don't get that bitrate and stuff. Actually, i don't get anything there. lol

I got some problems with sony vegas.
I had the three clips of my latest freerun in good quality (800x600 with ffdshow codec)
But when I rendered the video with vegas the quality was incredibly bad sad
After some settings I got the vid I uploaded on youtube.

What am I doing wrong ?
Can anyone tell me how to make better quality videos(since I can't watch sonicpackers tutorial)?

The quality is bad but i got it to 800x600 now.
